Chapter 5: Art
"Performance art is transitory by nature, limited to the time of the presentation (5.6)."
There is art all around us in the world. Paitings, music, performances, all of which the art is expressed in a short amount of time. In performances like theatre, there is only such a small window of time where art is performed. I find it interesting how art can be displayed in such little time but hold so much impact. As a child, I used to draw so much. I found animation as my favorite form of art. I would learn how to draw the characters and I would practice everyday, only from watching a short animation. Those small windows of pure enjoyment brought me so much joy. I wish I am able to rewatch a lot of the animations for the first time again. I feel the same way when I listen to music and look at old drawings. It will never be the same as the first time.

"The rise of computers and digital technology has changed the face of art in the twenty-first century (5.5)."
Not only has technology affected art in the twenrt-first century, it has also affected art now. The use of AI has increased so much over the past year. On TikTok, I have seen people mimic art styles and fake it as there owen creation. It just ruins the fact that there are people who devot their time to make beautiful creations and they have to compete with a computer. Art should not be a competition but I just feel that it makes the time for creation unapprecitated. I am sure that artists must feel a sense of disappointment when they see their art being mimiced and then faked on the internet. Computers and other technology makes us unappreciate ourselves too. I remember when I found out what facetuning was. It is when people can shape themselves to tweak their apperance. That just ruins the beauty of appearnce, and I find that to be art.

"The fundamental issue in determining whether a given architectual work can be labeled 'art' is the interplay of form and function (5.6)."
I believe that architectual work should be considered art, even without the idea of its function. I have seen many houses, buildings, and chrurches that deserve a round of applause for their creativity. I persoanlly enjoy the small winter-like cabins and the insanely large churches. I am not a huge fan modern buildings but I believe that it is definetely a form of art. I just feel that modern buildings lacks character and it feels more dead, but art is what you make of it. To give an analogy, I see modern buildings as a corpse with no soul. I have also seen people destroy beautiful elements to their nice victorian house to make it look modern. It genuinely pains me to see a house or building with character getting destroyed to be something more indifferent.
