Chapter 1: A Shining Beacon
"Each of us is more than a gender, an age, and an occupation." (1.1)
As individuals, we are more than our physical description. Teenagers can be viewed as immature, yet they can have extraordinary ideas. A woman can do a man's job, as a man can do a woman's job. This means that just because they are young, or what gender they are, there is more to a human being. Everyone around us feels emotions and reacts differently to different situations. We all strive to have some light in our lives and to be successful. Our personalities can help define people in a spiritual sense. It is about who we are on the inside that matters.

"Do we have enough money to get what we want? The answer is usually NO!" (1.2)
Most people get confused when it comes to needing and wanting things. There is a major difference between the two. There are a lot of people that spend their money on things they want, rather than what they need. Nowadays, it is harder to make money and spend it in general. I feel as if the universe always teases us with things we want. Personally, I get teased by new products, luxury items, and makeup. If it was so easy to get what we wanted, then possibly the world would go into a frenzy. Not having enough money to get what we want isn't a bad thing. It should broaden the idea that it is okay to work hard to gain what we want.

"Even water is becoming scarce; it may not be long before we have to pay premium prices just to slake our thirst, let alone our lawns." (1.2)
Inflation is at its all-time high, with house prices, everyday essentials, and gas prices that affect everyone in the U.S. It is only a matter of time before everything we need involves a price tag. For women, it is a financial burden to pay for the cost of monthly essentials which is essential in our lives. I believe overpopulation is interlinked with inflation. With overpopulation, there is a risk of running out of resources to survive. The more people in this world, the more our resources are depleted.
